VANCOUVER (AFP) -- China's Zhou Yang broke the 1,000-meter short-track speed skating world record when she finished first in a semi-final at the Vancouver Olympics on Friday.
She was timed in 1min 29.049sec, shattering the old mark of 1:29.495 set by her teammate Wang Meng in Harbin, China, in March 2008.
