WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Anna Holmlund of Sweden has earned the top spot in the Olympic women's skicross bracket, finishing her qualifying heat .02 seconds faster than Canada's Ashleigh McIvor.

Holmlund made it down the Cypress Mountain course Tuesday in 1 minute, 17.15 seconds to position herself as the top seed among the 32 women who will return in the afternoon for a series of four-woman races.

Ophelie David of France, who along with McIvor is considered a favorite to win skicross at its Olympic debut, qualified in sixth.

There are no Americans in the event.
