Hungary is a former communist state in east-central Europe. It is bordered to the north by Slovakia, to the east by Ukraine and Romania, to the south by Serbia and Croatia, and to the west by Slovenia and Austria. It began shifting away from communism in 1989, and the Communist Party was formally dissolved in October 1989.
All six of Hungary's Winter Olympic medals have been in figure skating - five in pairs and one in ice dancing. The most recent was in Lake Placid in 1980.
Vancouver Outlook: Hungary is not expected to contend for a medal in Vancouver.
