France is bordered to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the northwest by the English Channel, to the northeast by Belgium and Luxembourg, to the east by Germany, Switzerland and Italy, to the southeast by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southwest by Spain.

France: Olympic Tradition

France has hosted the Olympic Winter Games three times - 1924 in Chamonix, 1968 in Grenoble, and 1992 in Albertville - and has been represented at every Olympics, except the 1904 Games in St. Louis. France is 12th on the all-time Winter Games medal list with 83 medals (25 gold, 24 silver and 34 bronze).

France: Vancouver Outlook

France won nine medals in Torino and should collect a similar number in Vancouver with medals likely in the new discipline of ski cross.
