Croatia is an independent republic, bordered to the west by the Adriatic Sea, to the north by Slovenia and Hungary, to the east by Serbia and Montenegro, and to the south by Bosnia and Herzegovina. It declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.

Croatia: Olympic Tradition

Croatia was one of eight nations to make its Olympic Winter Games debut at the Albertville Games. All seven of Croatia's medals have come in Alpine skiing.
