Getting to know: Lydia Lassila

A gold medal contender entering 2006, Lydia Lassila's Torino Games became synonymous with screams of pain, the result of a torn ACL that had been tenuously held together by a ligament from a cadaver... Since that painful 2006, the aerialist has married a Finnish moguls world champion, founded her own business and won the 2008-09 World Cup title... Vancouver marks her third Olympic appearance.

    Who am I?

As the pilot for the USA-1 bobsled, I broke a 62-year gold medal drought when my sled, the 'Night Train" won the Olympic title at the 2010 Vancouver Games. A degenerative eye condition nearly caused me to quit my sport in 2008, but corrective surgery restored my vision to 20-20.
