Figure skating: What to expect As this Olympic season approached, a theme began to appear: comebacks. From injury, from pregnancy, and most notably from retirement - multiple medalists from the 2006 Torino Games returned this year to pursue another Olympics. 
Davis and White determined to defend Meryl Davis and Charlie White, the reigning U.S. ice dance champions, face an unusual opponent as they defend their title in Spokane: another team that has won a U.S. title. Actually, Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto have won five of them.

In their first head-to-head competition this season, five-time U.S. champions Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto are in an unfamiliar spot: second place. They trail former training partners Meryl Davis and Charlie White after the compulsory dance.
As the pilot for the USA-1 bobsled, I broke a 62-year gold medal drought when my sled, the 'Night Train" won the Olympic title at the 2010 Vancouver Games. A degenerative eye condition nearly caused me to quit my sport in 2008, but corrective surgery restored my vision to 20-20.
