Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo won Olympic gold in Vancouver...They were co-favorites for the pairs title in Torino until Zhao tore his Achilles in November 2005...He gamely competed in the Olympics with less than a month of jump training...The pair opened a sports school in China to help develop coaches, as they are China's first successful pair team and feel it is their duty to pass on the craft...A couple off the ice, Zhao proposed to Shen on the ice at the 2007 Worlds.

As the pilot for the USA-1 bobsled, I broke a 62-year gold medal drought when my sled, the 'Night Train" won the Olympic title at the 2010 Vancouver Games. A degenerative eye condition nearly caused me to quit my sport in 2008, but corrective surgery restored my vision to 20-20.
